The National Energy Foundation (NEF) knows how hard educators work to teach students what they need to know in a fun and engaging way. That’s why NEF creates customizable and interactive lessons to help students master standards — introducing rEV, the new electric vehicle education program that teaches students valuable, real-world energy literacy skills in a whole new way.

rEV is a free program delivered by the classroom teacher with support from NEF staff. The program includes the rEV Interactive Experience, a choose your adventure film that allows students to learn through character dialogue and class discussion topics. Teachers also gain access to the official rEV website with games and resources, as well as lesson plans for classroom activities that teach about topics like electrical generation, the smart grid and local fuel mix. All activities and lessons meet Next Generation Science Standards to easily fit teachers’ curriculum needs.

Additionally, rEV is entirely customizable, so teachers can use it for one lesson or an entire unit, depending on their needs. The program also provides educators with the opportunity to receive incentives such as classroom grants, Amazon gift cards and an electric bike! NEF’s mission is to cultivate and promote an energy literate society. As students are surrounded by more technology and challenges facing energy use and the environment, it is essential to equip them with the knowledge and tools to make well-informed decisions for their futures.
