The first week of May is teacher appreciation week, so we’re celebrating all month long with teacher spotlights on social media! Of course, we’d love for you to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to support some of our favorite teachers.

The support of classroom teachers across the United States allows the National Energy Foundation (NEF) to achieve our mission, to cultivate and promote an energy literate society. And as such, we are fortunate to work with thousands of amazing educators every day delivering our classroom presentations, reaching hundreds of thousands of students and families. We have so much appreciation for these educators that we partner with year after year.

Teachers Support NEF Programs

We thought Teacher Appreciation Week was the perfect time for us to thank all of these brilliant teachers, school administrators, and community educators for the awesome work they do, impacting the next generation, particularly around energy literacy. From excited first-time teachers to our experienced lead teachers we are extremely grateful for their dedication to delivering energy education programs in their schools and classrooms. All of our teachers allow our presenters to deliver (or deliver themselves) 45 minutes of energy education material to their students, but there are many who help coordinate material shipments and school-wide assemblies, help distribute energy efficiency kits to students and continue to educate about energy topics with our program websites and supplemental lesson plans.

Here’s what our Program Directors are saying about our teachers:

Josh A.
Josh is a member of our Educators’ Advisory Council as well as a dedicated supporter of our classroom presentations and other initiatives. He engages his students in our national contests and is always open to new programs to be piloted with his students.

Cheryl B.
Cheryl just finished her first program season with NEF. She’s been teaching for 50 years and let us know, “[The NEF] program is one of the best she has ever done.” Her students’ families were particularly grateful for the [energy efficiency] kit items during this time.

Meredith W.
Meredith pushes her students to think deeper about the subjects in school. She instills a love of learning in 5th grade that is hard to capture. In fact, for one of our programs, she has helped develop materials that are useful to other teachers.

Teacher Appreciation Spotlights

Beth T.
Beth goes above and beyond to teach hands-on STEM projects. For instance, she approaches teaching with real-world applications to every grade level at her elementary school.

Ellen  H.
Ellen is so excited to bring science information to her students. She is the first to register for as many of our programs as possible. She wants to improve the lives of her students through energy education.

Sherry M.
Sherry is a first-time teacher this year! We couldn’t be more grateful for her feedback, expressing that our programs provide so much more than just a lesson and a kit, but an experience for the classes involved!

Below is a continued list of teachers nominated for shoutouts by our Program Directors. Follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter to learn more about some of the teachers listed throughout the month of May.
